Launch Location: Richardson Park in Wilton Manors. This is a little park with a floating dock that is easy to miss. Look for the Dairy Queen across the street when looking for this park. The floating dock makes for easy boarding and unboarding of your kayak without getting wet. The only downside is, it is a bit of a walk from the parking area. It’s best to bring wheels for your kayak unless you are renting on weekends at the kiosk .

Richardson Park Wilton Manors

Parking: Parking is by the hour and the meters take cash, plastic or pay by phone. On the weekends it’s best to get there early as the lot tends to fill up but there is additional parking on the street.

Description: Wilton Manors is actually an island in the middle of a city. If you paddle around the whole island it will be a 7 mile paddle. There is very little boat activity and the water is usually calm even on windy days. Lots of stuff to look at along the way like iguanas sunning in people’s back yards. On one part of the island there are mangroves on each side of the waterway where birds and raccoons can be spotted. If you get really lucky you may spot a manatee along the way.

Kayak Rentals Availability: On the weekends Atlantic Kayak has a kiosk in the park with kayak rentals.

Amenities: There are public restrooms in the park that you pass along your way to the floating dock. Just outside the park is an assortment of gift shops, bars, ice cream shops and restaurants. Plus as you are paddling around the island there are places to dock and dash into a convenience store.
