Launch Location: Lake Worth Lagoon. On Southern Blvd. there is a small parking area on your left after the drawbridge when you are heading east and then you can carry Kayak the small beach area to launch from.
Personal Notes:It was nice getting out on the water again. This was my first Kayaking trip since I got injured a few years ago. Hoping to do a lot more Kayaking very soon.
Fees: None, parking is paid for.
DescriptionL This Kayaking spot was very disappointing. I’ve been to this spot about 10 years ago and it was awesome. The islands are bird sanctuaries, and were full of every kind of imaginable bird. The tops of the trees were full of vultures. There was pelicans roasting in the trees. All kinds of birds that I don’t know the names of.
But today, no birds. Just an occasionally egret. It did look like the mangroves have been trimmed back, definitely changed from my last visit. The whole reason I picked a spot which was an hour away was to do wildlife photography.
Before the ” improvements” to park and lunch your kayak, you could park on the beach and launch your Kayak. Not anymore. Now you have to pay for parking. I believe it is $20. I did not actually pay, instead risked a ticket which I did not get. Also, no real way to park with a trailer. Plus, you have to carry your kayak really far to get to the beach area to launch as they put in a railing, the entire length of the parking lot.
So while I did got out and did enjoyed it, but will not be returning to this spot.
Kayak Rentals Availability: No
