Launch Location: Colohatchee Park in Wilton Manors.  The ramp can be slippery due to algae growing on it so it is best to wear water shoes.

[mappress mapid=”38″ width=”100%” height=”200″ adaptive=”true”] Parking: Parking is free at the park. There is a limited amount of trailer parking near the boat ramp.

Description: Finally was able to get out on the water and do a short paddle that turned out to be extra delightful due to the unusually high water.

Spent a good part of the day Kayaking around Colohatchee Park which is normally inaccessible due to the water level being too low to paddle through it.

I wanted an easy paddle as I’m still recovering from catching Covid back in January. Also, I wanted to try out my new Panasonic LUMIX FZ300 weatherproof camera and hopefully get some wildlife pictures.

I normally paddle past these mangrovess as when you go in a short distance you run into mudflats. But today the water was usually high and we were able to paddle way in and explore all through it. It was great being able to explore a new area so close to home.

Not a lot of wildlife as it was the wrong time of day for wildlife to be active. Only was able to try out the zoom on my new camera on one bird. Saw lots of raccoons in the bushes but did not take pictures of them.

It was a highly enjoyable very easy paddle. But only can be done at high tide which serendipitously stumbled upon.

Kayak Rentals Availability: Rentals are not provided by the park.

Amenities: There are public restrooms in the park.
